CIPATE is one of the top exhibitions in China for police equipment, anti-terrorism technology and associated devices.
This year more than 200 companies took part from the US, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland and Russia, as well as South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other international centres, plus from many parts of the Chinese mainland.
On display during the three-day exhibition were six categories of the latest police equipment and technology, including vehicles, criminal investigation equipment, anti-explosive and security inspection devices and security protection equipment.
This year, the venue was not as crowded as previously because the organisers set limits on the admission of members of the public. However, sales turnover still reached a record high of Rmb100 million.
The Beijing police force is set to update its equipment and its ability to combat terrorism in the run-up to the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games.
For this reason, the Beijing Public Security Bureau, which is responsible for the security of the Games, has undertaken massive purchases of equipment and technology.
The finance department of the Beijing municipal government has already allocated about Rmb500 million for the purpose.
This edition of the exhibition, exhibits are ranging from small items like police torches, telescopes and police uniforms to large products like police vehicles, anti-riot guns and electronic systems.
With China lifting its restriction on the production of army and police supplies, high quality products presented by private enterprises caught visitors' attention.
